Do you get paid on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Eve? Let’s know when Chime posts a deposit and everything related to Chime holidays.

Chime is certainly one of the best mobile banking companies that offers banking benefits for U.S. members. Actually, Chime is not a bank, its services are provided by Bancorp Bank, N.A., and Stride Bank, N.A.

So, the debit or credit cards you receive from Chime are issued by those banks. So whenever your deposit is submitted by your employer, it will go through the bank and arrive at Chime. Let’s know the Chime Bank holiday schedule and how it works with your direct deposits.

What is Thanksgiving Day?

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated across the U.S. and Canada on the fourth Thursday of November for an abundance of food and good fortune. It is said that it was first celebrated by the Pilgrims of Plymouth, Mass after their first harvest in October 1621.

It’s one of the federal holidays when all banks are closed and employees don’t work. That means, that on Thanksgiving Day, you cannot go to the bank and open an account or expect your deposit to arrive.

Chime follows all the federal vacations, including Thanksgiving Day. So if your benefits provider initiates a direct deposit on a bank holiday, it will not be processed until the next banking day.

Chime Bank: Federal Holidays 2024

There are a few bank off-days that Chime observes. As we’ve mentioned, Chime’s banking partners do not process direct deposits on national and federal holidays, so it’s important to know which ones they are.

However, as soon as your fund is processed from the bank, Chime posts it into your account immediately without holding it.

Here are the federal bank holidays that affect your direct deposits –

Is Chime Open On Black Friday?

Black Friday is the day that comes after Thanksgiving, and it is not a federal holiday. Hence, direct deposits will hit your Chime account on the following Black Friday day by 9 a.m. EST, Monday through Thursday.

For example, if your payroll provider submits a check on a weekend, you’ll receive your paycheck on the following Monday or the next business day (if there is no holiday).

As we know, Chime users get paid two days before their regular payday because Chime banking partners process paychecks faster than traditional banks.

However, if your direct deposit arrived on Black Friday, it will be posted by Chime on that very day. Ensure that your employer has the correct routing number or account information so that your paycheck arrives on time, without fail.

Does Chime Pay Early On Holidays Or Weekends?

Chime banks take weekends and federal holidays into account. It’s obvious that you won’t get paid on weekends and federal vacations, as we have already listed above.

However, when any holiday other than the ones that the company follows is on the way, your direct deposit will still arrive in your Chime checking account.

So if somehow your payment is pending on weekends or federal holidays, it will be posted by Chime on the next business day.

Chime doesn’t hold a payment or have any part in processing it since your payment first goes through your bank and then arrives at Chime. Once Chime has received your payment, you will get a notification.

If you haven’t already, you can enable Chime notifications in your phone’s settings.

Here’s how to set up Chime notifications:

  • Launch the settings on your phone.
  • Find and access the “Notification and Status bar” (May vary from phone to phone).
  • Now Tap App Notification Management.
  • Scroll through the list of apps and access Chime.
  • Next, toggle on “Allow notification” to receive notifications.

Does Chime Pay Early On Thanksgiving?

No, your direct deposit doesn’t hit on Thanksgiving because it is a federal holiday that Chime observes. You may have to wait until the next business day to get paid from Chime.

If there is a weekend after Thanksgiving, you will receive your payment on Monday if there is no federal holiday.

As we know, the company doesn’t hold your direct deposit for further processing. If your payment is pending, that means it’s still to be cleared from the bank.

So, once the bank processes your direct deposit as it usually does, you can get access to your payment up to two days earlier than your usual schedule.

You should be paid up to days prior if there is no delay from your payroll provider and no technical difficulties.

How Does Chime Direct Deposit Work?

Chime posts your direct deposit as soon as it arrives at Chime through the bank. It doesn’t receive your direct deposit instantly after your payroll provider initiates a fund. The fund goes through multiple stages of processing before arriving at Chime.

However, if your deposit has passed all the steps and arrived in your account, Chime will notify you, and you can access it.

Chime is not a bank, as it has two banking partners, The Bancorp, N.A., and Stride, N.A., that process your direct deposits before Chime posts them.

Why hasn’t my direct deposit been processed yet?

Once your employer or payroll provider initiates a transfer to your checking account, your paycheck should arrive on time.

However, if you don’t see a payment in your account, you must contact your employer and ascertain your routing number and account number linked to your Chime checking account.

Also, check that there are no off-days or weekends since banks do not process the direct deposit these days. You’ve got to wait until the next business day to receive your funds in your account.
